About Our Programs:

There’s nothing better than seeing your child light up with wonder—digging under a log to find a pill bug, proudly holding a wiggly worm for the first time, giggling because it tickles, and excitedly showing all their new friends.

Kids grow so fast, and sometimes it feels like the days fly by in a blur of snacks, tantrums, and screen time.

Little Hikers Long Island is a fun outdoor program for children ages 2–6 and their caregivers. We explore trails, jump in puddles, lift logs, play games and create simple nature crafts—always following the kids' lead. We meet at West Hills County Park (Long Island, NY)

Young children learn best through play—not by sitting still or following rigid lessons. That’s why our program is built around child-led exploration. Some days we hike farther because the kids are curious and excited. Other days, we settle in one spot to dig, and observe. And that’s the beauty of it—it’s always THEIR adventure.

Each session is centered around a simple nature theme, but the real magic happens through movement, sensory play, and connection.

You’ll leave with a happy, tired kid, muddy shoes, and sweet memories made—together.

    We gather for a short circle time to introduce the day’s nature topic—whether it’s bugs, plants, or animals—and spark curiosity with fun facts and questions. Encouraging children to start getting curious about nature.

    We set off on a kid-friendly adventure, digging, searching under logs, peeking into trees, and using tools like magnifying glasses and binoculars to explore the outdoors at the kids’ own pace.

  • Create & Play:

    We wrap up with a simple nature craft or an engaging outdoor game, and on rainy days, we might splash in puddles or enjoy nature-themed play.
