Come join us for one Little Explorers class!

Each 75-minute parent-and-child class is planned around a nature topic connected to what we can see and find on the trail that season. Your child will learn about nature, search for what we learned on the trail, use real nature tools, complete a hands-on activity and have plenty of time to move and play.

EACH CLASS INCLUDES

Woodland Play
We begin with a few minutes of play while everyone arrives. Toys and activities are set up in the woods, including nature specimens with magnifying glasses, Feed the Bird, Catch & Pop, rocket launchers, sorting activities and other favorites.

Circle Time
We introduce our nature topic for the day, learn a few interesting facts and talk about what we’ll look for on our hike.

Guided Nature Walk
Then we head onto the trail with binoculars or magnifying glasses to use during class. We search for things connected to our lesson and stop to investigate interesting discoveries along the way.

Depending on the day, we might look under a log for roly-polies and millipedes, compare leaves, investigate a plant, search for woodpecker holes or watch a squirrel gathering acorns.

Our walk is short for little feet, with plenty of stops along the way.

Hands-On Activity
Each class includes a craft, experiment, game or activity connected to the day's nature lesson.

And we finish with BUBBLES!

WHAT YOUR CHILD GETS FROM THE CLASS

Children practice looking closely, learning new nature vocabulary and becoming more familiar with the bugs, plants and animals around them. They also get to move, practice taking turns and learn alongside other children.
